Welcome to Schenn’s Space on the web.  Here’s where I blog about web development, my hobbies, and sometimes life in general (though those will likely be private). I honestly don’t feel like managing multiple sites for individualized content, so that’s just how it is.  It’s Schenn’s Space.

Comments have been disabled on the entire site.  There are numerous studies that show that when comments are enabled, not only do people not read the article itself, but they use the comment section to argue over what they think the article may even be about.  This is not constructive.  I am considering activating a classical forum to associate with this site for people to redirect their discussion to, because that at least keeps casual readers from being dissuaded by non-relevant discussions in the comments.

In the programming area, you’ll find guides for people looking to become web developers, as well as guides for seasoned developers who are looking to learn about something specific which I’ve documented here.  You’ll also find the docs and guides for any code projects I’ve assembled on github.  Sometimes, you may find an article about my personal opinion on “programming politics”, otherwise known as “this language is dumb” or “why would you ever?!”.  This is so I can get the argument out of my head and get some sleep, not so much to ‘convince the world that this is the only way to think about it’ which is how opinions seem to be weighed by the general public nowadays.  Two hundred and fifty characters is barely enough to describe your favorite summer activity.  Trying to debate between “inheritance vs composition” in such a way is a waste of everyone’s mental energy.  So, if you’ve recently made a claim about something in a shared message about web development, and suddenly see a long article on this blog about it, it may not be a coincidence, though I won’t identify details about where the claim came from in order to keep the mob away.

In the gaming area, you’ll find adventures for tabletop campaigns, guides and reviews for games, and be able to follow along with some campaign stories.  You’ll also be able to find the occasional stream where you can watch the occasional tabletop adventure, dwarf fortress playthrough, or a lets play of something more recent and interesting.  If you feel like helping to support this blog, you can visit the amazon store in the gaming area to order materials through.  The site uses their affiliate network to recoup some of the cost of hosting.

In the personal area, you’ll find the records of my real world adventures and the progress of personal non-development projects. Here’s where you can find adventure logs from high desert camping and rock hunting, or details about the latest piece of fiction I’m working on.  You’ll be able to learn from my experiences and hopefully find an interest which helps keep you mentally healthy.
